Green Week :: Day 2

Refresh

green-week-2

I found refreshment in embracing a positive outlook on my day. Mint tea helped, too.

The “blessings” of my healthy, fun and love-filled life often get swept under the rug unless I reboot my thinking to be less crabby and more refreshed….

  • I was late getting my garbage can out to the curb but I did bring up the neighbors empty can
  • the grocery clerk at Super Target asked if I needed a cart assistant to help me to my car…and another lady said, “Don’t worry, we’ve all been there” then pointed out my missing glove on the ground as tears were being spewed onto me by my darling little ones.
  • Bank trip {sass about not getting a sucker–really it’s like the worst candy ever!}
  • Library books returned
  • Food unloaded in -2 degree F. weather {threw away meatballs in marinara that was who knows how old from the back of the fridge}
  • children fed
  • Doctor’s appointment for Molly’s check-up
  • Bath, snack, craft for Ryan
  • Clean up and fold laundry {Ry said Dad will be so impressed!}
  • Dinner made, packed up and dishes washed {Ry called me the best chef ever!}
  • Kids tucked in
  • Google blog reader – read
  • Watch the TV show Chuck with Peter

Mint tea, yes, refreshed and less crabby.

I am grateful of my to-do lists for I am able to do them.

Green Week :: Day 1

Green Week

Salt and Chocolate blog writer, Mary Beth, has been doing a photographic essay or “noticing” project about the color GREEN called Green Week!

Here I sit, a Minnesotan expecting yet another winter storm today, struggling to find spring-filled relief and inspiration. (cleaning, walking, decorating, shopping, cleaning – did I say that already?)

I will be doing a GREEN week too!

Closet 1: The Journey Begins

The Masked Mommy
I straightened up the entryway coat closet to get my closet-mojo a flamin’ for The Masked Mommy’s Closet Pow-Wow.

Okay, I re-eeally want to post my bedroom closet but she, yes she, (I decided my bedroom closet is female), is still being tackled. Tune back in for the before and afters of la closet de bedroom.

So on with the entryway…

Before Photos:

Slumpy coats, trashy stairs and oh my the shoes...I'm not even showing you those!

Really? Does a motorcycle helmet need to be a fingertips reach all winter long...in Minnesota?

The many seasons of clutterama.

After Photos:

Keeping it real clause: the white bin was just moved up a few steps...without being sorted.

Hangbag storage is my new Must-Have!

The leather "cube" stores snowpants and blankets and serves as a spot to sit down during shoe removal. (The curtains are still in test mode...not meant for show)

Bins for seasonal gear, shallow basket for little shoes and wire basket for mail

I used black lower case letter stickers to label each bin. j, m, r and p, of course!

What's life without a bunch of sayings, right?

May joy and peace surround you, contentment latch your door...

So I did a bit more than just my closet. My entryway coat closet just needed some breathing room so it took over a slice of the living room.

I am so glad it did!

Okay, okay! I know…here is the side-by-side top-by-bottom…

Thanks to all of you that showed your support as I geared up for the pow-wow. I am still in the mode…now if only I had a bit more time and energy.

Such is life!

Love,

Jess

morning:: noon :: night

  • Molly loves to play with her “guys” and “babies” (fisher price little people) in the doll house.
  • Sample day at the local membership mega-mart. Molly struggles to stay awake to eat her chip crumb snack from the sample lady that thought salsa would be too spicy for her to eat. Ryan chilled in the freezer department using the ledge as a bench to scarf down blueberries in a cup.
  • Neat Pete blew out candles to his double-decker chocolate chip cookie and frosting 29th Birthday cake. The treat was created by my personal baker Sam. (We went to visit “him” at the membership mega-mart.)
